Each year, Henrico County Public Schools recognizes a member of Exceptional Education whose contribution to HCPS has been exemplary in service of children and their families. This award, the Christie Award, is named in honor of Christie Ann Heatwole, daughter of Evelyn and Ray Heatwole, whose life characterized the passion and enthusiasm central to the county's mission of serving all students.
This year, Carver is excited to announce our nominee for Christie Award is Ms. Gillian Withers. Here's what her nominators had to say: Gillian is incredible to work with, and I am so grateful to have her on my team. She is devoted to every student (all 61 kids!) on her caseload and goes above and beyond to support the remaining Ex Ed team members with her breadth of knowledge. I always look forward to having Gillian in my meetings. She is a calming presence and always explains things in a manner that every team member, especially the parents, understands. Gillian is amazing with the kids – she is sincere, hardworking, and generous. Gillian deserves this award so much!
I would like to nominate Gillian Withers for the Christie Award. She serves SIXTY-ONE (!!!!!!!) students at Carver. Gillian is incredibly knowledgeable about her job and is so sweet with her students. She is a hard worker and an asset to the ExEd team. I truly don’t know what we would do without her!
Congratulations, Ms. Withers! Thank you for all you do for our students.
